Science Centre field trip
Music- Mrs. Machnaik
Science- Ms. Basky
Fine Motor- Ms. Bechard
Quiet Time- Niki picked Valentine Mice for us to read today, and then we started Chronicles of Narnia- A Lion, a Witch and a Wardrobe! I’m hoping to finish this book before Christmas holidays!
*I sent out an email today that had a list of December dates. I forgot to write that Pizza Day is Thursday December 3rd. Just in case you didn’t receive the email, here is the list:
Thursday, Dec. 3 – Skating- Our class is going skating at the Core Ritchie arena at 9:15 AM. Students will need skates, a helmet, and appropriate clothing (warm enough clothes, mittens) We would love to have parents come and meet us there to help tie up skates. If you want to help in this way, just meet us at Core Ritchie shortly after 9:15. This is a perfect opportunity for students to learn/practice how to skate. The kids are so great at helping each other and there are literally children falling down all over the place, so no one feels left out! We will be going again in the new year as well.
Friday, Dec. 4- PD Day. No school for students.
Friday Dec. 11th– Grade 1 Concerts for the Elderly- We are going to show our students how we can spread a little Christmas cheer this winter. On the 11th, we are going to go to two care homes to sing for the patrons there. There is a care home close to the school called Ultimate Care Home that we will walk to. From my understanding, the K’s from last year sung for Ultimate Care Home, so some of the kids might recognize some of the people from last year! After that, we will head to Wintergreen Care home in the south end.
Tuesday/Wednesday Dec. 15th and 16th -1:30 and 7:00 Christmas Concerts for last names that star with A-K (15th) L-Z (16th). Students are supposed to wear basic winter wear. (Scarves, toques, mittens.) My only suggestion would be to dress the children “light” on top. It is going to be very hot up on stage, and I’m a little worried someone could puke or pass out if they get too hot. Think about dressing them in a tank top, t-shirt, or light long sleeve. If anyone needs to switch days, it shouldn’t be a problem, just let me know if you need to switch from the Tuesday to Wednesday or vice versa. All children should be at the school by 6:45 that night so they can get them lined up and ready for 7:00.
Friday December 18th– Last day of school before Christmas break. We will have a little party that afternoon. Kids don’t need to bring anything. There will be early dismissal at 2:30 that day. This is Ms. Basky’s last day at Hawrylak. She will be done University and be a full-fledged teacher come January!
Monday, Jan. 4th 2016- Students return to school!
