Math- Students continued learning about near doubles.
We watched the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe this afternoon.
*Tomorrow is Pyjama Day
** Reminder that we will be going skating on January 8th when we are back. The bus will cost $3.25 (as we aren’t sharing it with anyone.) We need parent helpers to tie skates, and if anyone has any extra pairs of skates, please let me know as that will allow some of our students who don’t have skates to try it out.
***The information about dental screening for grade 2’s is incorrect. There will only be dental screening for grade 1’s and 7’s. Thanks!
Math- The students learned a new iPad game today, and continued working on near doubles.
Science- Students reflected on their experiment.
Daily 5 Centres
Quiet Time- We finished the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe.
Talking Circle- We had an open talking circle where the students who could talk about whatever they want.
*Reminder that tomorrow the students are watching the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. They can bring a blanket or stuffy if they would like. I also told them they could bring an extra snack to eat during the movie.
**I also told the kids that we will be going skating on January 8th. If you don’t have skates, start asking neighbours friends and cousins over the holidays so that the kids can come on Jan. 8th! I will be teaching them if they don’t know how. Also, we will be needing parent helpers to help tie skates that day, so mark your calendars for 2PM!
Math- Doubles game. Students have homework today (Not yesterday. My apologies.)
Health- Ms. Preece
French- Ms. Murdoch
Arts Ed- Students learned their song of the week
Buddies- Students showed off their Makerspace creations today. These creations are coming home with them. (Sorry, I know they are really big!)
Staff vs. students volleyball game.
*Tomorrow is Sparkle Day.
**Thursday we are going to be watching the movie of Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. Students are allowed to bring a blanket and stuffy that day. There are a couple scarier scenes, but we have talked about this a lot in class already. Children are allowed to leave the room if they are finding a part scary, and they have read the book so they know what will happen which I have found helpful in other classes. I have shown this many times to grade 1 and 2 classes I have taught, and I have never had a problem, so I don’t foresee any problems this year either.
Carpet Time- Today we worked on dominat r’s. Learning how the r often times controls the vowel and makes it say “rrrrr.”
Daily 5 Work on Writing- The students worked on their 4th page of their Book project today. Just one more page to go! Today they were adding to the problem in the story. I told them we really wanted our readers to think that the story was hopeless and the characters were in big trouble, and then the next day we would work on a solution. 🙂
Phys Ed- The students started creating their own games today.
Music- Ms. Hendry
*Tomorrow is our Makerspace show and tell. If you, (or someone in your family) wants to come see what type of amusement park your child and their buddy made, you can come between 1:30-2:15 tomorrow afternoon. We will be up the presentation stairs in Studio 2 and out onto the perch. It is come and go.
