Read Raz Kids! This is a PAID platform that has many books at the student’s level. I can even see what skills they need to work on, and test their reading with the Flight Check option! It should be mostly independent, so your kids should be able to do it all on their own!
The students are adding two digit numbers with a hundreds chart on Seesaw!
Optional activity is to have your child alphabetize the spices in your kitchen. Maybe if they get in the organizing mood they organize a pantry or something too! LOL
Here are some fun videos from Ms. Halbert. She made a Dino yoga video, and a milk experiment!
I will be asking all parents to please put out their home reading books on Thursday/Friday this week. I am going to be dropping off some new home reading books and collecting the ones I gave you a month ago. There should be 6 books!
Different kids will be reading different poems this week. These were all the poems read with the students today. They all have actions that go with them. If your child had a phone call with Mrs. Maley today, get them to show you the poem they did!
Good news! It sounds like Saskatchewan is going to be able to do a bit more “socializing.” I am so excited about that. Still sad we won’t be able to see the kids, but great that things are opening again!
Raz Kids reading. There are ways to level up in reading with Raz Kids!
Today there was a place value assessment and check in on Seesaw!
Fun optional activity: Create an obstacle course at home or in your yard. How fast can you complete it?
Welcome back to “school” this week. We hope you had a restful break last week.
Today there were a couple things on the agenda:
You were asked to review the Loose Tooth Chant because Mrs. Maley is going to ask you to read it to me this week over the phone!
You were asked to work on reviewing place value. There was a Seesaw assignment sent out to work on.
Just for fun, if you want, you can learn a new joke and tell it to an aunt or uncle. If you want to share it with the class, you can post it to Seesaw!
Our division would like everyone to decide on what Supplemental Learning Plan your family would like to be a part of. Mrs. Maley will check in with you on her phone call this week. Here is the info:
Grades CANNOT decrease even if they opt out of supplemental learning. Please keep in mind that due to the pandemic and the circumstances we are faced with at this time, it is difficult for teachers to effectively assess student progress and give a true assessment of student learning. Regardless of your choice, your child has moved to the next grade level. The following options to choose from are:
Option 1 – “All in” – I would like my teacher to expect me to participate in assignments and I know I will be graded. I know my mark cannot be lower than Term 1 marks in any subject. I understand I can opt out at any time by contacting my teacher. (marks will NOT be put into gradebook)
Option 2 – “In for learning, not for full assessment” – I’m not concerned with getting marks but would like some feedback on my work from my teacher. In June, my teacher may have seen enough work in Term 2 that shows improvement and can increase my grade. I understand I can opt out at any time by contacting my teacher.
Option 3 – “Out for now” – I do not want any supplemental learning at this time but check in with me every couple of weeks to see if I changed my mind.
