*With covid numbers increasing, the division wants us to send a reminder that if your child is sick, they need to be symptom free for 48 hours before they return to school.

**Reminder that supervision starts at 8:53. Please do not send your child to school any earlier than that. If possible, send them as close to 9:08 as possible. Some days the students will be outside for the whole time, so that can get really cold for them to be outside until 9:08! Today was an indoor recess, HOWEVER there is NOT a supervisor in each classroom. The supervisors have to roam for all the primary classes, so unfortunately the earlier the student is, the more exposure they have to the other kids.

Math Centres- Some of our students need a bit of work with counting forwards and backwards to 100. (You can always practice this at home if you notice your child needs practice!) I have Mr. Jones collecting boxes here from school for us to use, but if you have any cardboard at home that was going to go to recycle anyways, and you want to send it with your child, we will be using it Monday morning! It doesn’t have to be huge either. Cereal boxes, shoe boxes, Amazon boxes (not that I know anything about those) would all be great! Thanks!

*Here is a note from our director of education about masks being required for Pre-K-3 from now on.

November 5, 2020
On September 1, 2020. Regina Public Schools shared its Return to School Parent/Caregiver Handbook. At the time, non-medical mask use was required for all students in Grades 4 to 12 and recommended for all Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 3. Mask use was also required on all school buses and for staff and all other adults in schools, school division buildings, except outdoors, in private offices, or where physical distancing was possible.
The Government of Saskatchewan has now announced required mask use in all indoor public spaces in Regina. This does not apply to schools. However, Regina Public Schools puts the safety of students and staff first and mask use is one tool we can use to minimize the spread of COVID-19 in our schools.
Effective Monday, November 9, 2020, non-medical masks will be required to be worn by all students (now including Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 3), and all staff in our schools and school division buildings and school buses. The exception is in private staff offices (where physical distancing is possible) and when food or beverages are being consumed, such as at lunch time.
Please ensure that students are sent to school with several masks. This will allow students to change masks, as necessary. If possible, please also ensure that all non-medical masks are regularly washed. As the cold weather also is around the corner, parents and guardians know that face coverings in the winter tend to get wet very quickly. A wet mask is ineffective. Having a second or third mask available is another measure of safety for students.
Regina Public Schools appreciates that the requirement of mask use for all students may create some additional challenges for school families. We believe that taking this extra step, will help our schools minimize the transmission of COVID-19 and help keep students and staff safe as we head into winter and cold and flu season.
If you have any questions or your child has a medical or other reason that they cannot wear a mask, please contact your school principal who will work with you to find safe accommodations.
Thank you for your understanding.
Sincerely,
Greg Enion
Director of Education
